JobDescTo support continuous improvements in health & safety across the Europe, Middle East and Africa (EMEA) region, Lloyd’s Register is strengthening its safety management resource and expertise through the appointment of a team of full-time Area Safety Managers. Reporting to the Regional Safety Manager, the Area Safety Manager - Aberdeen plays a vital role leading and championing health and safety for Lloyd’s Register’s Aberdeen oil and gas operations as part of its Energy senior management team. The role additionally provides functional health & safety leadership to our area Energy teams engaged in a range of demanding and challenging assignments in the oil, gas, chemical and power sectors across the EMEA region. As an experienced senior safety manager, you will use your considerable influencing skills to lead and champion safety across our regional energy business. You will identify and understand sector safety risks, monitor safety performance and investigate incidents and trends and, together with local managers, you will ensure compliance to national legislation and industry standards across the EMEA region. This is a demanding, “hands-on” role with a significant element of travel You will provide practical, functional leadership to a team of safety representatives and field-based safety leaders, undertaking practical safety training, and will use your detailed sector and technical knowledge to support our Group and Regional safety team in improving our Safety Management System (SMS) and delivering our annual safety plan. You will be well-versed in working effectively with a wide range of energy sector clients and other key parties, such as industry regulators, by taking a pro-active approach towards establishing joint safety initiatives. You will have proven on-shore and off-shore experience and will be required to travel extensively across the region. Will be degree qualified, preferably in an engineering discipline • Will hold a NEBOSH diploma or equivalent professional health and safety qualification • Will be a Chartered Member of IOSH • Will have a minimum of 10 years safety management experience within the energy sector, on and off-shore • Will be a Lead Assessor or have certification experience • Will have proven communication skills and a natural ability to influence and motivate others across and up and down a large and diverse organisation • Will be able to work effectively as part of the Area Management Teams at all levels • Will be a self-starter, able to work on own initiative but within the group • Will have excellent organisation skills.
