| JobDesc | To exploit business opportunities and ensure that products and services meet the required quality standards, by developing given basic design parameters and producing required Engineering Drawings for use in the Manufacture, Assembly, and Testing of new, or modifications to existing, product lines in order to meet actual or anticipated future customer needs. The position is one of the main points of contact between the engineers and designers who develop the design parameters based upon the product requirements determined by the sales teams, and the manufacturing plants who make the products in line with the drawings based upon these parameters. The role is measured by the accurate interpretation of given design parameters into effective designs and drawings that can be used to manufacture the products against time and quality requirements. Perform general drafting duties as assigned by Engineering staff carrying out such duties as: Take basic design parameters from designers and engineers and develop detail designs Production and maintenance of Engineering Drawings for use in the manufacture, assembly, and testing of products using CAD systems. Participation in project groups in relation to drawing and administration, if appropriate Support Operations and Product Line with production and maintenance of Technical Data Creation and Checking of engineering relating documents as per the Quality Management System (QMS) Design Approval Matrix Provide assistance in the assembly and maintenance of engineering and other technical files. Any other delegated responsibilities as instructed by Line Management within the timeframe specified in a safe and efficient manner to meet business requirements, provided the instruction is reasonable and you are capable and deemed competent to fulfil these Will be required to hold the department On-Call phone, duration and frequency determined by department On-Call Rota. May be required to travel locally as required to liase with Manufacturing, Product Line and Sales personnel as necessary. Must possess as a minimum a NC in a Technical subject Ideally should have a HNC or equivalent in Mechanical Engineering or a related subject. Good technical aptitude in mechanical systems Experience in a mechanical drafting position Ability to interpret basic design requirements from engineers and produce required design and drawings under engineers supervision Experience of design requirements of downhole tools used in the Oil & Gas industry Must have exposure to a Design/Drawing office, and have a good practical knowledge of CAD and other PC drawing system packages. Ideally should have a working knowledge of AutoCAD and/or Pro-E system packages. Working knowledge of Product Data Management systems. Must be able to use the right information and/or systems and/or technology, and be able to identify and implement improvements as appropriate. Must be a team player with good communication skills, both verbal and written. |
